Fall 2017- Top 10 Ending Songs

Following on from the last post, if there is an opening there must be an ending and this post is in appreciation of the ending songs of this Fall 2017 season. Whilst not packing the same punch as the openings, these selections include some decent songs nonetheless.

10. Shokugeki No Soma Season 3

This song isn’t particularly good or catchy- it is typical Anime ending fare that, whilst being more than easy enough to listen to does nothing to set itself apart from its peers. It’s fine but it being it at number 10 shows the disappointing level of the ending songs this seasons; in stark contrast to the openings.

9. Konohana Kitan

In contrast to the openings relaxed and slightly underwhelming offering, the ending is a much peppier and reflects the more hopeful side of the shows story. The song isn’t unforgettable but is easy enough to listen to (wouldn’t make it anywhere near the top 10 opening list though…)

8. Itsudatte Bokura no Koi wa 10cm Datta

Just like its opening song, 10cm hits the mark with a very good song. Not quite as good as its own opening song but the ED does bring its own separate charm to the table with the cast joining together to sing the theme and delivering a more than passable way to end a surprisingly good show.

.7.  Boku no Kanojo ga Majimesugiru Sho-Bitch na Ken

The show itself is shameless, erotic and hilarious. The ending is very catchy and feels like a properly flirty romance song with some truly amazing vocals. The song title Koi no Himitsu literally translates to Secret of Love and there is no secret about how much I enjoyed this song- especially after sitting through some of the more lacklustre episodes.

6. 3 Gatsu no Lion

Each new opening and ending in this series has hit the mark and this one is no different. It has that melancholic feel that the show does and is very easy, emotional listening. The vocalist does a wonderful job and sets the mood wonderfully with his controlled pitch changes and slightly whiny (in a good way) voice.

5. Osake wa Fuufu Natte Kara

In the shows short run time, you get a measly 30 seconds of this excellent ending song and I would implore you to click below and listen to the whole thing- an incredibly catchy Japanese Rock-Pop song that has kept growing on me the more I have listened to it.

4. Love Live Sunshine Season 2

Typical Love Live song that slowly builds to a wonderful climax and wedges its way into your heart; much like the show itself. If you like idol music this will be right up your alley.

*Please excuse the incorrect picture in the video- I did not create the piece but I can assure you that the song is correct.*

3. Boruto ( Ending 3)

Top quality and the first song on the list that I actually have on my playlist. The song fits a shounen show down to a tee and the upbeat, fast nature of the song reflects the nature of the show. Helps that it is catchy as hell; try and stop yourself from humming along. I dare you. This is the best ending on the list when it comes down to song alone but just loses out through the animation/ immersion just not being quite as good as the next two.

2. Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou

Just missing out on the top spot, the song is catchy but (like with the OP) it is the animation along with the song and the feeling that it creates that boosts this so high on the list. The song is catchy ( but not as much as Number 3 or even Number 4 for that matter) but the beautifully pencil drawn animation style along with the main characters normal shenanigans make it spectacular viewing. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find the video on Youtube so you’ll just have to make do with the full song. Pity.

1. Himouto Umaru Chan Season 2

Typical song for the show- reminiscent to the Season 1 opening. However, the animated dance is the most mesmerising thing I have seen this season and is on the level of Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou OP’s dab. The song is okay ( again like number 2, probably not as good as 3 and 4) but the ending as whole entity is the most endearing, heartwarming thing I have seen for a long while and when I have a bad day, there is nothing better for me to watch than:

So despite not having the strength in depth as the Openings, the quality of the top 4 endings more than makes up for that. Let me know your favourite ending this season and why below and thanks for reading!
